BOY I AM STILL EXHAUSTED! ANYONE WHO HAS HAD CHILDREN GET MARRIED WILL KNOW WHAT I MEAN. IT’S NOT JUST THE DAY BUT THE LEAD UP AND ALL THE FLUFFING AROUND..IT COMPOUNDS AND DAYS AFTER YOU STILL FIND YOURSELF TIRED!
HAVING SAID THIS …WHAT A DAY..THE WEATHER FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR WAS A SHOCKER!! THE DAY BEFORE CLOUDS AND DRIZZLE SO I MADE THE MOST OF THE BREAKS IN THE WEATHER TO TAKE SOME PICS.
WE WERE AT A LOVELY PLACE CALLED THE HARVEST FARM AND PHIL AND I ,CHRIS (THE GROOM) BRAD OUR ELDEST SON AND MICHAEL (CHRISTOPHERS TWIN BROTHER) AND HIS GIRLFRIEND ALL STAYED IN THE FRONT COTTAGE… BRAD’S WIFE SARAH WAS AT THEIR PLACE ON KITTY DUTY AND RHIANNON OUR DAUGHTER AND HER BOYFRIEND WERE ARRIVING ON THE DAY. THE BACK COTTAGE AMBER THE BRIDE TO BE AND HER SISTER SARAH WERE STAYING.
AND ON THE DAY …THE HEAVENS OPENED UP…WE HAD BLACK CLOUDS,THUNDER,LIGHTENING AND TORRENTIAL RAIN!! WE ALSO HAD A BRIDE IN TEARS….
SO THE MEN GOT BUSY..ALL CHAIRS WERE BOUGHT IN TO THE BACK COTTAGE AND ROSE PETALS STREWN ON THE FLOOR..THE BRIDES MUM AND I HAD A TIME TRYING TO CONVINCE HER THAT IS WAS OK..POOR KID WAS INCONSOLABLE..
THE PLAN HAD ALWAYS BEEN TO MARRY UNDER THE BIG OAK TREE..THE WHOLE PLACE WAS CHOSEN FOR THIS REASON..AND NOW IT WAS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN..
IT WAS AMAZING HOW MANY PEOPLE WE CRAMMED INTO THAT COTTAGE..AND HOW QUICKLY IT WAS DONE!! HENCE THE LOOK ON MY BOYS FACES..THINK THEY WERE BEWILDERED!!
THE CEREMONY WAS BEAUTIFUL ,THE WORDS THEY EACH WROTE WERE LOVING AND FUN JUST LIKE THEM..THEY CLEARLY ADORE EACH OTHER AND AS MUCH AS IT WAS NOT HOW THEY PLANNED IT…THEY ARE NOW MARRIED AND THIS WILL ALWAYS BE A MEMORABLE DAY FOR US ALL.
I SHALL CATCH UP WITH YOU ALL SOON..I AM STILL IN FRAZZLE MODE!!
How beautiful! I’m sorry the weather was so bad. Can’t wait to hear more! Ellie

I’m sorry to hear about the bad weather. When my wife and I got married we had to move the ceremony inside because of an approaching hurricane. The hurricane then changed direction and met us almost 200 miles away in St. Augustine the next day for our honeymoon. None of that mattered. We had a great time and in the end, it is the marriage that is important, not the wedding.

I agree Charles,i told Amber it was all about the marriage and this was one day out of a lifetime of great moments.Hurricane honeymoon wrecker by the sounds of it!! what are the chances !!

It’s funny but the hurricane was a blessing. Our seventh floor room on St. Augustine Beach was partially flooded. That caused us to get a room at a bed and breakfast in town which was much better. The weather cleared up and we had a great time.

Oh dearie me……well it was a beautiful setting inside or outside….the one thing about planning an outdoor wedding though is never knowing FOR SURE if the weather will cooperate. Sounds like it was gorgeous anyway and no doubt it’s that “I do” moment which will always be remembered – not the clouds and rain!

I agree Pam ..they are happily up north having a wonderful time in Palm Cove and the photographer managed to get some quick and I mean running in high heels through soggy grass quick shots with us all outside..feel like I have been in a marathon! not to mention our international guest losing an eyeball just before the ceremony hahahhahaah 🙂

That’s so beautiful, even when the weather was not the best. Maybe the thunder& lightning was a firework to celebrate this day. btw: do you have a clue why all moms get watery eyes only when they read the word wedding?
LikeLike
Thanks Easy 🙂 I think that’s a great way to look at the weather! I have no idea why we get leaky eyes…I saw my son and he looked at me..his eyes were welling with tears..so I started..the whole way through..then hubby started the bride started my daughter started…I think it was a record for the most sniffing in a ceremony!! maybe we get watery because we know it will cost us a fortune 😉 hugs Fozziemum xx

Drats with the darn weather. Sounds like our weather. I am sure despite it the ceremony was lovely in the cottage. Maybe they can have a blessing some other time. Have a terrific Tuesday.

Beautiful – BEAUTIFUL pictures my friend. It sounds like a wonderful wedding. The day was full of love and that’s all that matters. Mom/dad had thunder and lightening on their wedding day as well. Someone at their wedding looked up the meaning of that and told them it was a sign of abundance and a long and happy marriage! That is great news 🙂 Happy future to the Mr and Mrs with years of happy bliss. XOXO – Bacon

Thanks guys I agree..our wedding was not at all what I wanted..mother-in-law issues..anywho of all the weddings ours was the most mundane and yet we have remained together while all other fell apart…I am still trying to find the humour in ours 31 years on hahaahhaah 🙂

We got married this summer after 22 years together and at our wedding meal the wind was so strong it blew glasses off the tables. Our solution was to make sure everybody’s glass was full all the time 😀

Your pictures are beautiful. When a friend of mine got married the minister told her that “your wedding will be perfect because you and the person that you love are getting married.” “Everything that happens that is unplanned will become part of your story.” It is true. Judy
