Happy Birthday Dollface

I had to pop on here to wish my gorgeous girl a Happy Birthday..

She is turning 30 in Cambodia and so very far away from us at the moment but of course her wonderful boyfriend Michael is with her on this trip.

Rhiannon turned 19 in America..in fact the day after she landed..so this is the second birthday she has spent overseas..

Funny, i was in labor only an hour and a half with her..Hubby had to help deliver this tiny little girl into the world..clearly Rhiannon was in a rush to be here and see all that the world had to offer..she has always been the same..

I know this trip will inspire her and her art and give her the much deserved break from her non stop work that she has thrown herself into.

I will miss not seeing her for such a long time but i know she has to do this..it’s something i should have done long long ago so i am glad she has this chance.

I wish her the best day which judging by the pictures we are getting will be easy to do..she is happier than i have seen her in a long long time.

So with all my love i think of her and hope she stays safe but absorbs all she can..

Happy Birthday Dollface..i love you more than chocolate ..

Floating gracefully into 2015

Well folks Happy New Year!
Our much needed break has come to an end and I must say that Cairns and the surrounding areas have been a tonic for this tired and worn out land gal.
So many highlights and so many things to share.

When you have a long held dream and it finally becomes a reality it boosts your spirit..gives you that much needed lift and when I say lift I mean lift!

Many moons ago I was terrified of flying, quite literally would break out in sweats at the thought.
Gradually I became less scared as I realised the end of a plane trip meant a vacation!

I love flying now, the sensation of power and the feeling of looking down on the world from a different perspective.

So much of what I photograph is from lying on the ground of our property..maybe climbing trees to capture shots of roos or birds at eye height.

I still find myself staring skywards..looking for that Wedge-tail Eagle and soaring with him as he surveys us from above, the whole time I now find myself soaring with him as he catches the thermals and effortlessly covers the acreage in minutes…I have envied that power and grace.

When we arrived in Palm Cove I saw the brochures for http://www.hotair.com.au/cairns/
Now Hubby has never been afraid of flying but Hot Air Balloons …well that was a different thing!
Kudos to him he wanted to be with me when I took a flight.
So 3.30am we got up on the 30th of December and off we headed..
We were picked up by Merv the coach driver, a guy who despite the early hour was full of smiles and also a great guy to chat to, Merv was a great source of info and straight away I knew we had chosen an awesome company to fly with.
We arrived at the site and I was so excited..the sky was still hiding most of her glorious colours and balloons were in different stages of inflation ..awesome!

I was busting to get out and start snapping away and toting a vast array of lenses I was in danger of becoming a hunchback! my big boy lens Brutus was ready to roll!

Ground crew were just as great as Merv and sadly I cannot remember any names as I was in a Photographers Buzz…the sound of the gas jets blasting the smell of crisp air and the chance I had been waiting for for so long!

We were all briefed on the way to enter and exit the basket safely and it was clear concise and incredibly simple..it was wonderful to see grandparents with their grandchildren, young couples and families and even middle aged thrill seekers such as moi πŸ™‚

You know I have to say I was feeling more like a kid in a lolly shop.Hubby looked a bit apprehensive but luckily he chilled pretty quickly as I kept the poor guy busy passing me lenses for my camera.

All I can say is WOW…I cannot believe how graceful and calm the whole flight was. Being carried with the thermals like those Wedge-tail Eagles and feeling a freedom and tranquillity my soul badly needed after such a frantic few years on the rocky ground we call home.

I am a girl that loves the environment..you all know I love nature and the beauty I see around me. Anyone who follows my bloggies knows this is what makes me tick.
This has just opened a whole new love for me, to see the clouds gently touching the mountains and the sun waking up to throw her colours around the landscape ..breathtaking! and at the same time to be able to look below at the landscape in all it’s glory..patchwork farm lands of varying crops, and I know the work that has gone in to those farms…if only they could see what I saw maybe they would have a new perspective too.

The day ended as gently as it started..and an hour of my life had been lifted to a place I must go again..

I will leave you all with some pictures of our morning, we have arrived home exhausted and I hope after the next few extreme fire danger days to be back to some regular blogging and catching up……yep again I am behind…same old me πŸ˜‰ …

GOODNESS ME GUYS YOU HAVE HAD A BUSY MORNING…CAN’T WAIT TO SEE BASHFULS PICTURES FROM THE MORNING..

TRAVELLING AROUND

BOY..I HAVE HAD A BUSY WEEKEND AND IT GOT ME TO THINKING ABOUT OUR DIFFERENT PERCEPTIONS OF TIME AND TRAVEL..NOT TIME TRAVELLING..BUT DISTANCES…

I HAVE READ AND HEARD A LOT ABOUT THE CONCEPT OF SPACE IN THIS LAND I CALL HOME FROM MANY OVERSEAS PEOPLE.

WE ALL HAVE A PERCEPTION OF A PLACE AND FORM AN IDEA AND HOW OFTEN WE GET IT WRONG..

FOR EXAMPLE I HAVE HEARD OVERSEAS GUESTS COMMENT THAT THEY THOUGHT THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO VISIT MANY AUSTRALIAN LANDMARKS IN ONE DAY..WE ARE A SMALL COUNTRY BUT IT’S DECEPTIVE..VERY DECEPTIVE.

I LIVE IN VICTORIA IT’S POSTION IS AT THE BOTTOM OF OUR COUNTRY ,NOT AS FAR AS TASMANIA BUT STILL AT THE BOTTOM.IT SEEMS TO BE A SMALL STATE BUT IT IS VAST.

SATURDAY FOR EXAMPLE I WAS VISITING MY FUTURE DAUGHTER-IN-LAW,WITH ONLY WEEKS UNTIL THE WEDDING SHE WAS HAVING A GET TOGETHER OF THE GIRLS..I ALSO WANTED TO POP IN AND VISIT WITH MY LITTLE SISTER AND HER HUBBY AND TWO SMALL CHILDREN,SHE LIVES NOT FAR FROM THE GET TOGETHER I WAS GOING TO.ALSO I WANTED TO POP IN AND SEE MY MUM ALSO NOT FAR.

I DON’T LIVE IN REMOTE VICTORIA I AM IN A RURAL COUNTRY TOWN BUT NOT IN THE BOONIES AS WE SAY.

I SET OFF JUST BEFORE 10.00AM..I GOT HOME AT 9.30 PM I SPENT 5 HOURS IN THE CAR AND TRAVELLED 320 KMS IN TOTAL.

THIS COUNTRY IS SMALL BUT THE DISTANCES BETWEEN OUR STATES IS STILL QUITE BIG.

HUBBY AND I HAVE DRIVEN AROUND TASMANIA A SMALL BUT BEAUTIFUL STATE,I HAVE BEEN TO QUEENSLAND MANY TIMES AND THIS IS WHERE WE WILL RETIREΒ ,SYDNEY I LOVE ALSO BUT THEY STILL DON’T MAKE A GOOD COFFEE (SORRY GUYS MELBOURNES THE CAPITAL) ADELAIDE I STAYED THEIR BRIEFLY AND LOVED THE ARCHITECTURE.CANBERRA WE VISITED WHEN WE WENT TO SEE OUR DAUGHTER FOR HER BIRTHDAY,SOME GREAT GALLERIES AND MUSEUMS BUT CAN’T GET A COFFEE AFTER 4 ON A SATURDAY..IT’S LIKE A GHOST TOWN. ALICE SPRINGS I DID A WHIRLWIND ONE NIGHT STAY DID NOT SEE MUCH SADLY.

I AM YET TO SEE PERTH OR DARWIN.

SO I A SORE AND SORRY..MY BUTT IS STILL NUMB..SO I THINK I MAY HEAD TO BED EARLY …HOPING YOUR DAY WAS BRIGHT AND YOUR TRAVEL WERE SMOOTH !

Busy week

Hi everyone..busy week ahead and may get behind the eight ball..accept my apologises in advance!

Ran myself ragged last week and am paying the price now..naturalmondo! I have a scone competition on Thursday so did a practice batch yesterday pretty happy with the result see how we go,meanwhile have to do a Pet roster for Rhiannon so she knows the drill with the fur babies while she looks after them…honestly the prep for going away is always so much work that unless the holiday is extended it’s really heavy on the con side!

AIRLIE BEACH

AIRLIE BEACH

Would love a long break at Airlie Beach again…but a break is a break!!

Making sure their meals are done properly, their routine well mapped out,vet numbers, emergency numbers..blah blah..good grief!

Woke up middle of the night on Sunday/Monday with a nose full of cold..thrilled…

And have been draggin my butt around since hahahaha.

I am looking forward to two nights without the mayhem that is our life..i do miss the babies but a tiny break keeps us all sane! with a wedding coming up in November and still all the fencing to finish then organise the property for fire season two nights off is better than a poke in the eye with a pointy stick!

Hubby needs a break too work has been insanely busy and we both seem to have aged this last year..well of course we have but even more so than expected!

And still need to get Doc and the four girls down to see Dr Rayya for their c5 before boarding in November for the wedding..Forrest already had his with his bloodworks..

And of course Dr Rayya will be leaving our town next month and heading back to Dubai! We sure hope we still see her Facebook pics and I am sure her bloggie will still be there also. The vets at our clinic are all brilliant but we will still miss her smiling face and camera in the surgery πŸ™‚

So Friday morning we fly up to Brisbane…25 degrees Celsius at the moment better than our miserable expected ‘high’ of 11c….we fly home Sunday so I still get doggie and kittie kisses for my birthday πŸ™‚

If you don’t see much of me it’s because i’m chasing my tail at the moment and will catch up on as much as I can in the bloggiesphere .

Have an awesome day everyone cheers Fozziemum πŸ™‚
