Wild on Wednesday

Today I am so happy to introduce you all to Tippy and family.
You may remember the first time you met the little one..

Hey this is pretty good..

Hey this is pretty good..

All feet and very much still mainly in mum’s protective pouch.
Well Tippy is out and about and a very confidant youngster too…I believe Tippy is a little girl..she has been straying quite far from mum and really enjoying the world she calls home.

Now her dad..well let me introduce Buster..

Buster and titch

Now mum (who is tiny so I have called her titch) appears to be trying her hardest this afternoon to ward of Busters advances…yes love is in the air folks…

In this picture you can see Buster grab her tail.. he had been sniffing her in a most invasive way.. and she kept moving away, then he would grab her tail…
Male roos are not aggressive when they are courting their girls and believe me SHE calls the shots.. and so after watching him as the family went around the front of the property I decided that since he was so desperate to bust a move on her that I named him Buster.

He is a seemingly young male..and judging by his huge tail in proportion to the rest of him..he may end up a Boomer or Alpha roo.. he is, I think going to be a big big boy when fully grown.

Titch may need to watch herself 😉

As you can see her chest appears wet..it was 38C today and she may have been rubbing her chest with her arms..roos cool down by licking their arms and the blood vessels close to the skin act as cooling.Eastern Greys have insulating fur all year around as opposed to red roos who tend to live in much much hotter climates.

This little family was so sweet to watch…mum trying to eat..dad trying to get romantic with mum and bub just wanting to take the world in..

And Tippy will be safe knowing her dad is always there…look at how she looks at him..such a powerful creature and she has no fear..

Hoping you all find some fun and beauty today to soak in..

Wild on Wednesdays

I have decided to make my Wednesdays wild…every Wednesday I will post the wildlife I am so very privileged to live with here at home…or in my travels..

The main aim of this blog was to showcase the wildlife and sometimes I get sidetracked…it’s what I love…its what I get my greatest joy from and it is a window into the world from a regular everyday perspective..

Of course the kitties and pups and sheep still have their bloggie..and that’s where the crazy will be 🙂

So as I post these pictures I am happy to try and answer any questions in regards to the animals as best I can…and if I don’t know then I will find out.

Please enjoy todays pictures.. a young mum and her male joey I have been watching recently…and with some patience I was eventually rewarded with what I had been waiting for.. a little on board joey ..mum and the older joey moved towards me…I stayed in the same spot only moving to adjust my seat as it was a bit damp and on stones and grass…she felt clearly comfortable in moving around and was at no time stressed.. she would graze and every now and then check my position…she is but a baby herself and only small.

It is important to understand they are timid creatures and I will always respect their need to feel safe…besides their behaviours are more natural if I allow them to dictate the terms of the encounter.

I had such a lovely time.. the sun was warming my face and the rays were brilliant in how they shone on the roos.. you could not set a shoot up better if you tried lighting wise.. the pups were in the new fenced off backyard and though they barked a bit every now and then.. the Mum was not concerned…she had no reason to be.. we have never allowed the dogs to roam and chase roos…

After over an hour I finished up as needs must.. and things needed doing..i left them to continue their little feast in peace.. another day in my very blessed world.

Prepare to Squee..

Please meet one of the newest little darlings to leave his mums pouch…today i was in the kitchen cheering myself up by making a loaf of Sourdough Bread..as I was kneading the beast into submission I looked up and out the kitchen window to see the Ketchup Mob was hanging out behind the barn just up the driveway..i missed the chance to take pictures earlier as I had forgotten to put my SD card in my camera…yep sharp as a bowling ball me..anyway I thought they had gone as they hopped across the driveway as I cussed myself for missing the shots..
So I had taken to beating up this dough instead when I saw them..clearly they had crossed the driveway and then gone up the embankment and done a loop .this is about 30 metres or 100 feet away..
So I had the camera ready and crept outside to the end of the verandah where the kitchen end is..such gorgeous creatures..nibbling the sweet grass..having a scratch..i missed a great close up of a boxing match because a big gum tree blocked my view and then they took it behind the barn….dang…anyway was getting great shots of the Boomer..a healthy looking big boy who stared me down but I crouched down and stopped looking directly at him…as he slowly went back to nibbling the grass I slowly stood up…he stopped and was watching as were the rest of his mob but they felt no threat from me so it was back to grazing….so the big guy and his smaller female companion had me enthralled….and then SQUEEE out from behind the barn hopped this little guy..he was ALL legs and ALL tail ..his proportions look so funny and I imagine he is not long out of the pouch at all as he was more interested in the scenery than the grass! he was so tiny and when I zoomed in I noticed he has a small nick out of one of his ears…so..may I introduce to you all…..Nicky…and guess what..apart from me and hubby you are all the only people in the whole world who have ever seen him!! how special is that…

Wandering Wildlife Wednesday

Trying just to drive up our street sometimes takes a long time…with unpredictable behaviour we must proceed slowly as you never know which way these guys will go..

One of our 'Mobs'

One of our ‘Mobs’

They have nothing to fear from us so they are quite cavalier about where they hang out..

Mums got one on board

Sometimes they try hard to disguise themselves…

Pretty clever hiding spot!

Even the babies want to know whats happening in the world

Gee get off the road mum!

Gee get off the road mum!

If we wait they soon take off..even if they have to do it with a mouth full of food!…

I'm out of here!

I’m out of here!

It took me 10 minutes to drive just up to the top of the street to our house…I don’t mind, they are beautiful and a very welcome group of neighbours that live in our street.

Bye guys see you later and have a nice day !
