Maybe it’s Monday

Hi guys..i just realised this is my 400th post! and not a roo in sight!
Well tis Monday and i am going through some pics from the weekend..doing my tiny head in.
Saturday i had a lovely visit from Sharon from Gentlestitches and apart from making the worst batch of scones ever…go figure we had a lovely chat and some brownies and a walk around the property…the roos stayed hidden..dang..i forgot to take pics too!
The furries posed for some for Aunty Sharon though..bless em.
Yesterday we headed off to the Castlemaine State Festivals last day at the botanical gardens..a much better place to hold it..it was full of food stalls,craft and music..and of course doggies.
We then grabbed a coffee and headed to Cairn Curran where i hoped to get some more Pelican shots..but boats and jetskis were there so i guess the Pelicans took off..we did meet some pups though and dangled our feet in the water.
I bought home some driftwood for the boys and a huge Pelican feather for the girls..who batted it sniffed it and loved every bit..Forrest wanted to eat it!
So here are some pics i took..i am not really happy with them..do not know why…kinda worried i may be spending too much time looking at them and picking faults..or i am losing my mojo..have a great Monday folks 🙂

Hi everyone,sorry for the absence..i had planned to get a lot done and the recent snake versus Forrest issue kind of put paid to any of it. So I have been grounding myself in the kitchen…baking..and playing with the pups and kitties and just thanking my lucky stars that we still have our boy. I plan on doing a post with some info later as I have read some very disturbing things on blogs and forums and feel I need to get some clear information out there..as having first hand experience with not one but two bites in the same poochie..but for now as i ease my way back into some sort of routine I thought I would share part of that routine..the nightly struggle between canine and feline that exists in our multi-species abode..no animals are harmed in this..except maybe some canine dignity..you decide..who wins? Notice Forrest is happily sleeping through the whole thing..as always..he is Switzerland. Thanks folks and good to be back!

SHORT AND SWEET

Another night of extremes..when I finally went to bed out of sheer tiredness at 1.30am it was still 31c inside and 31c outside..Doc threw up as I think the heats getting to him…we are keeping all the animals cool as we can and well hydrated but the unrelenting nature of this heat is taking it’s toll…he is 11 and as we age we find it harder to recoup. He was sick a little bit again this morning but has had his brekkie and we are keeping a close eye on him for any other signs that somethings wrong. Todays forecast is a doozie…pretty much no place in our state is safe if a fire starts to run.

And that’s us right in the middle in North Central. So I won’t have time to reply to comments folks ..sorry and I am sure you all understand..we need to see this weather out and while it’s early I am just popping this up so you know we are fine but not out of the weather gods woods yet.

And to make it even better the news said this morning Adelaide which is in South Australia to the direct left of this map is having a days break then a week of more bad weather…not good because we get their weather a day or so later.. Looks like no real break in sight for awhile…

Off to wet some tea towels and pop them on as bandanas for the pups..both asleep and both tired….

Hope those of you who have snow keep warm..the cold can be so cruel..hope those with miserable rain get a little ray of sunshine…hope those who have storms batten down the hatches and keep safe…we all have weather systems plating havoc with our lives at the moment and even though I am focused on here I still feel for everyone who has to deal in a different way with what Mother Nature is throwing at them.

SECONDLY I WANT TO SEND MY LOVIES TO NYLABLUE AND HER MUM SHERRI-ELLEN WHO ARE STILL BATTLING WITH SERIOUS HEALTH ISSUES..WE HAVE ALL BEEN DOWN THIS ROAD AND ALL FEEL SHERRI-ELLENS PAIN AS SHE DEALS WITH THE SADDEST SIDE OF PET COMPANIONSHIP A PET WITH SERIOUS HEALTH PROBLEMS..PLEASE POP BY AND SEND YOU LOVE..SHE MAY NOT ALWAYS BE BLOGGING AT THE MOMENT AND STILL TRIES TO VISIT OUR BLOGS..BUT REAL LIFE MUST BE FRONT AND CENTRE…

THIRDLY I MAY NOT BE BLOGGING MUCH THIS WEEK..WE ARE EXPECTING A HEATWAVE WITH TEMPS CLIMBING IN SOME AREAS INTO  THE MID FORTIES..WINDS WILL BE AN ISSUE AND THE GROUND FUEL IS HIGH

SO I NEED TO BE FOCUSED ON MY ENVIRONMENT AND ALSO ON FACEBOOK FOR UPDATES..I WILL BE KEEPING ALL THE PETS SAFELY INSIDE IN THE COOL WITH PLENTY OF WATER ..THE POOL IS SET UP FOR THE PUPS AND THE DAM WILL BE PLAYED IN LATE IN THE DAY…IT’S SUMMER TIME I REALLY WONDER HOW MANY MORE YEARS I CAN SPEND LOOKNG AT MY HOME AS A POTENTIAL THREAT TO LIFE..

SO HAVE A GREAT WEEK AND I WILL BE POPPING IN TO BLOGS AS I CAN..IF AT ANY STAGE WE HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM I WILL MAKE SURE I DO A POST..FINGERS PAWS AND HOOVES CROSSED THAT ALL PEOPLE TAKE CARE THIS WEEK…AND TO THE POOR FOLK IN PERTH MY THOUGHTS GO OUT TO YOU AS YOU BATTLE FIRES AND SADLY HAVE LOST HOMES AND A LIFE..SUMMER AND THE BUSH A BEAUTIFUL BUT HARSH LAND INDEED. TREETOP THURSDAY

Ok I am a big kid…I confess…I have always been happier getting myself dirty and getting into mischief..call me intrepid…call me juvenile…but don’t call me if I’m up a tree!!

I am still without a treehouse..Santa heard me but is busy..after today we went walkies and I think Santa realises I may be safer in a treehouse than climbing trees like a monkey with blundstone boots and no really good centre of gravity..

Last night I got a bit childish too because we lost power …went off on off on then off….so candles were lit..and I remembered these silly caps we had with built in lights…ok so Phil and I donned these bad boys and voila …instant idiots! mind you they worked…except we looked like we were heading to the gold mines…every now and then looking at each other and burning each others retinas out!! we went outside and made poor Doc put one on…Forrest..well he’s no fool he took off in the dark to leave a nasty Pee-Mail…

Today I headed to my tree. .the closest one to the fence line near the land next doors dam..watering holes of course being a Primo spot for wildlife..well I finally caught sight of the tortoises in the dam ..there must be four or five ..I couldn’t get a shot because…well my right foot was wedged in a fork in the tree…my clutzy Steel capped gumboot was not moving…the other foot was on the fence post end..precariously balanced and threatening to cramp at any given moment..i had my video camera on my right wrist…my mobile phone in my back pocket meaning I couldn’t use the one solid branch of the tree to lean on due to possibly crushing my phone…and I had my camera in my left hand and I will fall before I let go of my camera! And I could hear Roos…I saw a few roos but none that were close enough to capture on film or video..

Monkey I ain’t!

So tonight Phil and I headed down …the roos were close but took off pretty quickly..we walked down to my tree..he shook his head….’yep that’s real stable’ he said…I pushed on it to show how flexible it was…yes I do believe I may be getting at least a more stable platform for my Attenboroughesque outings…and then off we went ..through the barbed wire fence and into the land over the fence…up to the dam…the tortoises were not there..most likely sleeping at the bottom of the dam ..we did see however the impressions in the mud from the big ruckus of a few weeks ago..they really did pound that ground they were incredibly deep footprints..indicating a lot of speed ..as we had heard..

So I am a child at heart..and this is why I adore my animals..they too are child like…I am no Peter Pan as I am happy to be 52…but I think keeping your inner child alive is important..

No matter what age..

MY MONDAY

I AM OFF TO BED,I FORGOT TO MAKE SOMETHING FOR HUBBY FOR A WORK MORNING TEA..

HE SAID NOT TO WORRY BUT I PROMISED SO IT CAME TO PASS THAT NOW AT NEARLY ONE IN THE MORNING I HAVE JUST FINISHED SOME LEMON AND BLUEBERRY FRIANDS..PITY I WON’T GET TO TASTE ONE..

ALSO AT LAST I GOT TWO PICK SOME ROSES..I HAVE WAITED SO LONG IT SEEMS FOR THESE SWEET FLOWERS..THEY ARE PEACE ROSES AND SMELL DIVINE…

SUNDAYS ARE SUN-DAYS

FIRSTLY A HUGE THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO LEFT LOVELY BIRTHDAY MESSAGES FOR DOCS 11TH BIRTHDAY.

HE IS THE JOY OF MY LIFE THIS LITTLE GUY..HE DRIVES ME MAD,HE BARKS AT INVISIBLE MURDULATORS HE PEES ON MY TREES BUT HE IS MY BOY..

SECONDLY I STILL SEND HUGE HUGS TO SHERRI-ELLEN AND NYLABLUE  AS THEY GO THROUGH WHAT ALL US PET OWNERS GO THROUGH AT SOME STAGE…THESE TIMES ARE INCREDIBLY STRESSFUL AND DEVASTATING TO US.

AT THIS STAGE NYLABLUE IS STABLE AS SHERRI-ELLEN HAS TOLD ME SHE IS STILL FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT AND LOVE LIGHT AND HUGS WE SEND TO THEM BOTH.

ALSO I AM DEVASTATED FOR THE POOR PEOPLE OF NSW WHO AT THIS TIME ARE BATTLING TERRIBLE BUSHFIRES.

WE ARE IN SPRING IN AUSTRALIA AND THIS DOES NOT BODE WELL FOR THE SUMMER COMING UP.

AT THIS STAGE 200 HOMES HAVE BEEN LOST AND ONE PERSON HAS DIED.I CANNOT BEGIN TO IMAGINE THE STOCK AND WILDLIFE TOLL AS IT WILL BE HORRENDOUS..THIS GREAT SOUTHERN LAND CAN INDEED BE CRUEL.

I WISH OUR FIRE BRIGADE VOLUNTEERS WELL AS THEY HAVE SET OFF TO JOIN THE CONTINGENT THAT IS MAKING IT’S WAY TO THE FIRES AS I TYPE.

PLEASE NOTE FRIENDS THAT WHERE I AM IS AT LEAST 800 KM AWAY AND AS SUCH WE ARE SAFE .

I WILL OF COURSE ALWAYS MAKE AN UPDATE ON MY BLOG AS TO IF WE ARE BUNKING OUT AT ANY TIME DURING THE SEASON..I THINK YOU WILL APPRECIATE THAT AT TIMES I WON’T BE BLOGGING AS WE HAVE STILL PREP OUTSIDE TO TEND TO.

WE HAVE HAD A WINTERY SPRING..MORE COLD THAN WET AND TODAY HAS BEEN QUITE WARM ,THIS IS HOW OUR SEASON WENT LAST YEAR..WINTER NO SPRING BANG SUMMER!

I HAVE GOT THE GO PACKS SORTED AND WILL DO A BLOGGIE ON THIS WITH SOME OTHER INFO OF COURSE.

I WATCHED ACROSS THE PADDOCKS TODAY AND THE GREEN GRASS WAS RIPPLING IN WAVES..I SAID TO HUBBY THAT IT LOOKS SO BEAUTIFUL THE WAY IT RIPPLES LIKE WATER AND YET I KNOW IN SUMMER WHEN IT HAS BROWNED AND DRIED THIS SIGHT WILL HAVE ME CONCERNED..GRASS FIRES ARE INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AND VERY UNDERESTIMATED IN SPEED AND FEROCITY..

ANYWHO ENOUGH OF THIS QUITE SERIOUS CHAT..TODAY SINCE IT HAS BEEN WARM IT WAS TIME TO SET UP ‘SCOOBY POOL’ THIS BEING A PLAY ON THE FACT THAT DOC AND FORREST LOVE TO SWIM BUT DOC DIVES..WE JOKE WE ARE GOING TO GET HIM A SNORKEL BECAUSE HE ENDS UP WATERLOGGED FROM BLOWING BUBBLES..SO DOGS ..SCOOBY DOO..SCUBA DIVING..’SCOOBY POOL’

HE WAS MOST IMPRESSED THAT IT WAS FILLED FOR HIM..FORREST PREFERS TO RUN AROUND LIKE A TWIT AND WORK UP A SWEAT FIRST..DOC IS STRAIGHT IN..MY WATER BABY.. HAVE A GREAT SUNDAY ALL
