Spring and the feeling is sunny..

Well we have been so lucky to have some beautiful days this last week..just as i thought Spring had given us the slip..the nights are cold..and in the shade it is still cool with the wind ripping at you now and again to remind you that Winter still has some scores to settle.

But when the sun comes out it is glorious..and it seems all manner of creatures are enjoying those moments.

Yesterday i looked up from the kitchen window to see a small mob of roos having a snooze out the front..i grabbed the camera ,snuck the pups in the laundry so as not to start barking..and then in what can only be described as a military operation i snuck out the side door..

Ok so i have my glasses on a chain..on and off all the time..but for photography i do not use them..so i swung the chain backwards..so they would not clack on my camera.and slunk down the steps..went around to the side steps and then..yep…belly crawled along the verandah..bare in mind i look like an idiot..a common occurrence for me…and inched my way along the verandah until i could get to a good vantage point.

Now the reason for this is not what you may think…yes i want to take a picture..i can’t help it..but the real reason is they were so enjoying the sunshine.

They were grazing ,some were sleeping..and so i did not want to disturb their enjoyment.

As it turns out they were less than concerned and when i was spotted they were as always wary but not distressed.

We have it seems three young Mum’s at the moment…all with Joey’s in pouch and one with a young Joey at foot..a couple of young but strapping boys too..and they all look healthy so i am very pleased..

Mum has a snack while Joey has a nap in the pouch

Goodness Mum has her pouch full with this Joey!

So as you can see Spring is here now and all creatures are glad..and as for how ridiculous i look trying to get these shots..well here are some shots Hubby took today as i took him on a road trip far and wide..yes..i must look like an idiot ..but hey i have fun ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a super weekend guys..tomorrow is Father’s Day here and so a big shout out to all those Dad’s out there..human and non human ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Hi FM: If acting rather strange and looking like a complete idiot got you those pics …………… then please continue to act rather strange and look like a complete idiot! I bet you also had a lot of fun and, after all, isn’t that how life should be? Regards. Colin.:)

  3. What fun to see you in action enjoying yourself, though it might have been more fun to see you crawling on the ground…LOL. I love how you put so much effort into getting those perfect shots.
Spring is looking quite beautiful there, and it’s so great to see the Roos out and about with the joeys again. I love it when just their little legs are hanging out of the pouch!

  5. I recently watched a video of someone in Texas taking a picture of a blue snake after it had killed a rattlesnake. The guy kept following the snake, getting close to it, despite the fact that the snake was obviously upset by him. Please, continue slinking around your house…it proves you can respect your photo subjects and still get great shots. And I will use these as well for my sculpture!!!

    • Well sweets he had it coming to him if he got bitten…people really are stupid..there is nothing better than natural pictures..i mean i do work on landscapes and make them pop and have fun ..but with the animals as close to natural as possible..unless the lighting is bad when i do a bit of work in my post processing..but to antagonise or lure is not my style..we may have shots where we are holding a stumpy tail but this is always as part of moving them from the danger of our animals and taking them to a safer spot..and yes we take the odd video of them as they hiss but this is not stressing them they just want to be left alone..which if we did that the pups would kill them..as for our snakes..no way i would antagonise a brown..they have a 100 percent accurate strike rate..and can strike 2/3 of their length upwards..no i prefer the stealthy respect as i call it ๐Ÿ™‚ and i am glad the images help you..i was chuffed to find your facebake to share ..was easier than an email ๐Ÿ™‚ hugs Bev xx

  6. Well this macNcheese loving girl is speechless. As my twined toed hubby said when I showed him your post. How exotic it must be to see Roos out you window! I loved the shot if you taking photos! Happy Father’s Day to the hubby!
As for the twin toes..I guess the correct term…would be Siamese toes or webbed toes. The skin between them is up to the top of each toe!

    • Hahaahaah thankyou Cecilia..it is lovely to look up and see them out the kitchen window..and i would even stop making my macncheese to go slink out there..never get tired of them ๐Ÿ™‚ and thankyou hubby i think was making sure for the purposes of an inquest into my untimely demise vis a vi a step ladder tumble that he had evidence hahahaha..although the rabbit hole i nearly marched backwards into came a close second in terms of concern.stay tuned for an episode of ‘I shouldn’t be alive” hahaaaha..i had a friend many moons ago who had all his toes webbed..i was fascinated..the only twin thing here was my twin boys and that was enough…juts sayin hahahaha ๐Ÿ™‚ will pass on the Happy Father’s day greetings and Happy Labor Day ๐Ÿ™‚ Hugs and loves Bev xxx

    • Hahah thank you M.K i always feel for Mum..see as well as that Joey in her pouch she will have a teeny itty bitty jellybean sized one as well..she can feed the two separately with different milk for their needs…amazing creatures..and when she bends down to eat a little pair of hands reaches out and grabs grass as well…quite an awkward way to start life ๐Ÿ™‚ i am so glad you enjoyed them..i do love ‘my’ roos ๐Ÿ™‚ and you do see them tumbling and rolling over in their and it looks stupidly uncomfortable ๐Ÿ™‚ hugs Bev xx

  7. Sweet Bev, I wish I could come give you a great big hug for taking and sharing these fabulous pictures. The mums all look so sweet with their little joeys in the pouch. What cute little faces the joeys have. I enjoyed the pictures of you taking pictures too. How thoughtful of you to crawl on your belly so as not to disturb the beautiful roos enjoying the sunshine. I am glad I was able to come by today. Hope you are doing well sweet friend. Hugs

  8. We’ve been enjoying the glorious Spring weather, too. Looks like another great day ahead today. There’s been a new roo down by the river. We think it is a young male who’s just left the mob. We haven’t been able to get close enough for a photo….probably something to do with having three dogs.
