Wildlife Wednesday

Well folks since it is Wildlife Wednesday i thought what better than some cute little guys that i fell in love with when in the US..

I know most of my followers being American will probably be very blase about these but i was so excited to spot Squirrels..and they proved quite a challenge to capture with my camera.

Fast like birds and erratic..like all wildlife if you watch long enough you can often predict their movements..let’s just say i had some cooperative critters and some ..well they just saw me coming and laughed as they took off i am sure..

You would have laughed at the sight of a middle aged woman..creeping along..camera in hand and tip toeing around bushes and trees..

The things i do 🙂

Have a super Squirrrely day folks !

  2. We have lots of squirrels around here and I love to hear them chattering away up in the trees – we watch them building their nests and raising their families…..seeing the little ones learning how to go from tree to tree. I don’t even mind when they raid the bird feeders – they do love sunflower seeds……! Good for you capturing these shots – they are FAST movers and tough to photograph but you did it – – did you hear any southern accents in the chatter??????

    Hugs, Pam

      • We used to see more chipmunks around here – and Mom adores them too – but the neighbors cats are allowed to roam and I think they have kept the chippies hiding. They hunt in our woods (the cats!). We just love that we see so many birds and other critters here. Glad you got some squirrel pix!

  3. Mom just loved all the squirrels she met in NY and Washington too. Dad tried to convince her that the one’s in the park opposite the White House were actually part of the Secret Service and were recording their conversations. Mom thought this particularly funny seeing as the majority of their conversations at the time revolved around how cold they were and how sore her feet were from all the walking.

  4. Love your photos! I saw a few squirrels when I was in the USA too. They are so cute! I was at a zoo in Seattle and there were wild squirrels in the trees along the walkways, and there I was snapping photos of the squirrels while the Americans walking past stared at me wondering if I was crazy. 🙂

  5. Aw, I love watching the squirrels play in our backyard (when the dogs are inside). In the fall, when they’re gathering the acorns for their winter stash, they are so funny. Apparently, the seeds of the acorns are to them like catnip is to cats. Unfortunately, Ducky and Shadow see squirrels as prey rather than playmates, so the squirrels have to be FAST to avoid being caught by my little demonbrat. 😂

  8. Awesome photos, Bev! Did you see any black squirrels while you were here? They’re a little bigger, and have longer ears. We also have seen white ones from time to time. Neat, huh?

  11. I’m late, I’m late for A very important date I’m in a doggie stew for I am late visiting you.
Squirrels I stand guard to keep them out of my yard. But darn when I come in they come back again.
They are like little devils burying the acorns off our giant tree in the Fall and digging them up all Winter.
My favorite squirrel is Stubby because I have his tail. Yam Aunty was with us for three days, we gots to hear about your wonderful Australia and Scotland. I took her to a gazillion historic sites in Nati City that I have never showed on my blog. We never stopped but Lee only took one picture on the last day of our tea party. We will let her show you our city when she gets back to Scotland.
    Thanks for being a friend

  12. You can’t look any more crazy than a 40 year old man who follows them around because he loves taking pictures of them to show off on his blog. Squirrels aren’t the easiest thing for the novice to photograph, but your experience with your homeland critters paid off. Great pics!

    • Why thankyou fellow crazy 🙂 yes at 54 i still like to creep around..these darling little critters are very swift..maybe the roos here give me a bit of practice! They move pretty quickly too..i think it’s more watching body language and trying to work out their next move..if i had longer in the states i may have worked it out better lol..thankyou for the compliments..i have quite a few more to process 🙂
