Hi guys..a quick post ..i have a super busy weekend of burning off to do..ugh..but i think it will help clear the mind and do me well to be out in nature at the same time.
A trip to Lake Weeroona was lovely to clear the head also..the birds were out and i had a nice long walk with my camera..

Pacific Black Ducks

Magpie Lark

Purple Swamphen

Masked Lapwing

Eastern Rosella

White faced Heron

Black Swan

Dusky Moorhen

Black Swan

Purple Swamphen

This guy is some sort of goose.. must get a better peek 😉

Eurasian coots

Another feathered friend i can’t quite identify
Now this guy here is an Eclectus Parrot..typical up northern parts of Australia..now he was not at the lake but with his person at the new market i was at last Sunday in Woodend.

Waji the Eclectus Parrot
His name is Waji and he is 10 years old…his person told me that she has to be careful saying Market because if he hears he drives her crazy until she takes him..birds are smart animals..very smart and this guy was loving the day out on his persons shoulder and watching the activities around him..i hope to meet him again..he was a touch camera shy! he was a stunning bird..and trust me i did nothing to change or alter his color in this shot..
So i am off to bed..ready to get the overalls on and get dirty….have a great weekend and i will chat with you all soon..
Loves Fozziemum
What a glorious series of photos! My fave is the Eastern Rosella but they are all just delicious. Take it easy with the burning off!

The mama always dreamed about having a parrot… but a life in a cage isn’t the perfect one for such a guy… so we watch them via your blog and we enjoy it to meet berds like Waji:o) … hmmmm maybe you can send a swamphen to her instead?

I agree..i used to many many years ago have a budgie but he was mostly out if the cage..i can’t do it now..i prefer to see them free 🙂

Bev…..I dare not let the tabbies hear me say this but these photo’s of the birds are GORGEOUS !!
great capture on each one; I particularly like the little rosella…they are very colorful; the swamphen looks like velvet, and the parro’ts coloring is amazing. I dont know about the black swan, but one needs to use caution around swans where I live; they can be vicious. great to see you back this way, hope all is SELLING well 🙂 at market !! ♥♥♥♥♥ Laura

So is this what someone means, when they call someone an old coot? Mom and I are impressed with your knowledge of what species all these birds are. And the goose, well, it’s cool how you can just look at his face and know that’s what he is!

Lexi sweetie thankyou..yes i am often heard calling someone an old coot hahahah 🙂 i have a super bird book and have learnt a lot since we bought this house..we have nearly 50 species living here so learning was fun! hugs and continued POTP Fozziemum xxx

Crikey Bev …… so beautifully captured. What wonderful photos. We have all of those birds up our way too. I love ’em all. The little black bloke drying his wings is a black cormorant I think. We have one on our jetty most days. We feed the fish and they seem to know the fish gather around our jetty. People would think you have touched up the colours. Especially the rosella shot but that’s exactly the colour they are, aye?? Charlie’s Mum, Lynn.

Oh ….. AND they common name for the cormorant is snake bird. They swim around underwater, fishing, for ages and when they pop their head and long neck up to breath they look just like a snake.

I agree Lynn they look popped in photoshop but we both know they are truly that pretty..i thought it was a cormorant but had not checked my images enough before dry eye set in bwahahah they are amazing to watch diving and under so long! we loved to watch them up at Airlie Beach from the Coral Sea Resort balcony..i would be panicked they would break a neck from the dive and then drown hahahah good grief 🙂 love Fozziemum xxxx

Hi Bev, Loving the photos.
The goose you couldn’t identify looks like either a Greylag or Pink Footed goose. The larger black/brown bird with it’s wings out looks like either a Cormorant, but probably more likely a Shag.
Hope you are doing ok. There is a little something coming by airmail to you;)

Beautiful photos, Bev! The diversity of species there is truly amazing. I think the black bird with the pointy beak is a cormorant. They are pretty amazing … they can dive and swim really well, like penguins.
