Hi folks..the tests have come back and i have not got sciatica but a Labral hip tear and some chondroitis in the joint so pretty much the same deal that i had with my knee on the same leg,my back that i hurt just over a week ago is not healing as quickly as i would like either and between the two issues i have been in a bit of pain…the Dr has put me on Tramadol which i have not taken before as the ibuprofen is not good long term and was giving me awful gut pains..winner winner chicken dinner ๐ she will be consulting with ย the radiologist regards a cortisone shot into the joint.
I recall complaining ย about my hip about five years ago and the Ortho i saw gave me an xray and said no problems which was the same when i complained of my knee and an xray said fine..only to have an MRI done a year later and require surgery as the kneecap was shredded and i had to have a lateral release to stop my knee slipping out..so i have been grinding my hip for 5 years . The symptoms were very sciatic like and so i gave it no more thought ..the Dr has queried all the falls i have had and i have told her my ankles are the problem.
When i had my first fall inside on the same steps of doom my ankle did not fully heal, i told the Dr i was seeing then and he said soft tissue damage it will be fine..since then i have had several more falls as my ankle is not stable..and of course the other ankle has been playing up as well.
So i will be asking for a check of them so i can either get strapping sorted for them or some physio.
My regular Dr is super but he has been away and this Dr seems quite ok so i am thankful for that!
A lot of Drs are only to happy to see Fibro on your chart and put every ailment down to that…well at least with the scans the proof is there..so i hope to get back up and running..well sauntering soon..i hate being unable to function normally..and with the fires around it is not good to be unable to move!
We sadly have had an early start to the fire season..a controlled burn that has apparently gotten away..yes they need to be done but they must not be left unattended especially prior to a dangerous heat wave..people have lost homes..my cousin i found out tonight ,has lost sheds..his home was saved and his horses and family safe..i messaged him to offer help and see if he is ok and he said he was and it was old hat for him..his Mum my Aunty lost everything including one dog during the Ash Wednesday fires..i can only imagine the memories yesterday bought back for him, and he was only young at ย the time too. Damn fire.We will be getting no rain.We have been warned this will not be a good season..
Hubby came home early yesterday as wind damage on houses was everywhere..so he has been busy with the SES..and he was going to go to the staging ground in Lancefield where the CFA ย (Country Fire Authority) had set up with other Emergency services but my back was that bad he did not want to leave me here for fear i would be in trouble if i needed to get out. And i would have struggled indeed. We had ย a couple of small fires in town but they were out quickly and believe me the winds were scary..and the temps high in the 38C range and the humidity dropped too..
So i am thankful my cousin is safe and that my hubby is safe..he worked from home today and is pooped as he was on a roof again today fixing damage from winds…not our roof but a call out with the SES.
So again i apologise for the here and there visits..when i am on the couch i cannot get blogger blogs on my phone..no idea why..and half the time i start to visit and comment and then because i am lying down i fall asleep..good grief..what a life ๐
So i leave you all after this verbose post with some little shots i took the other day,i tried to go out and get motivated but i tired quickly and my back and hip started singing..but i did see these sweet garden friends..and have some thoughts to go with my images..
Loves Fozziemum xx

It’s ok i am always confused Annie ) i am hoping to avoid anything invasive..i will be doing my best to avoid having a hip op but the way my bones are with osteo is a worry. I would have been happy getting my hip looked at properly the first time to maybe strengthen things a bit..yep the falls are a worry but i am sure because my ankles roll that is the reason..so if i can find a way to strengthen them or make them more stable maybe i will be less likely to go a over t ๐ i am only pleased that with an actual physical image of a problem i am not told it’s just fibro..which some drs do..and the issue is not dealt with..makes you feel like a hypochodriac ๐ i may not run..i think i am too lazy ๐ maybe a slow saunter..thanks sweets Loves Bev xx

I feel for you. I have had both hips and both knees replaced, and one ankle fused twice. What do they think is causing the inflammation in the joint? I would pursue that. Be careful with the Tramadol. It is known to cause migraines, or make them worse. I took it and my migraines became intractable. Mayo Clinic took me off of it and my migraines lessened greatly. I hope you get answers and feel better soon. Stay safe!

Dang you have been in some pain for sure. I have some of the same issues Aleve helps but as you say that stuff isn’t good long term. I had a terrible bout with sciatia in the spring. Took too much. I’m currently trying to take less of it. I had my physical 2 weeks ago….2 of my liver enzymes were up a few points…so I’m laying off until my next lab later this month.
Walking really helps…must keep moving! LOL]

Tramadol must be the go-to drug of choice these days. I received a prescription for it too. My hips and knee have been giving me fits, but it is arthritis for the most part. So nice to see spring in your photos as we will soon be dealing with winter. Fire scares the pee out of me. I am so happy to no longer live in CA where the fires are always so bad. We’ll keep praying that nothing gets close to you. Sometime, I am not sure that ex-rays are worth a hoot. When I had the spinal fracture, the hospital took ex-rays and saw nothing. My pain management doctor could actually feel it so sent me for a CT scan which picked it. up. Tuesday at the ortho seems like a bust for me. Ex-rays showed some osteoarthritis but nothing else, despite constant severe knee pain. He says the cartilage might be torn, but rather than checking, I get to have three weeks of physical therapy and a knee brace. Good luck with the Tramadol. I can’t take that. You will be in my constant prayers. Hugs, Janet

OUCH!!! Sending you positive healing thoughts and hugs (((Bev))). I take Tramadol at night. It makes me feel spaced out, so I rarely take it during the day. I also take Paracetamol and Codeine, as I can’t take Ibuprofen as it’s an NSAID and they make me breathless. I use my Tens and my heat pad a lot, as I try not to take the full dose of pain meds, as when I get a flare up I really need them then. I hope the jab helps you. I have Arthritis in my back, so understand the pain.
Like you x-rays didn’t show anything, but years later an MRI showed the arthritis and the crumbling lower vertabrea.
My Fibro was diagnosed after the Arthritis, but it does seem now anything I go to the doc about, it’s blamed on the Fibro.
So sorry to hear about the fires and your cousin. Glad he only lost some outbuildings. Hope you all stay safe.

Dearest Auntie Bev,
We are so sorry to hear about your hip – it sounds similar-ish to mom’s shoulder, the x-rays also came up fine butt when the ortho used the sonar scan he picked up that she actually had calcific tendinitis and gave her a cortisone shot in the joint (like you are talking about), it helped A LOT, she isn’t 100% though and has had to go for follow up physio and has to do exercises twice a day to help keep it at bay.
Those wild fires you have are SO frightening! In Johannesburg we are prone to veld fires during the winter months because it gets so dry and in the Cape they are prone to wild fires in the summer. It can be utterly devastating.
We hope you have a good weekend and that you start feeling better soon. Mom says you need to be kind to yourself and if that means lying on the couch binge-watching a cooking programme…so be it ๐
