Wild on Wednesday


Today I am so happy to introduce you all to Tippy and family.
You may remember the first time you met the little one..

All feet and very much still mainly in mum’s protective pouch.
Well Tippy is out and about and a very confidant youngster too…I believe Tippy is a little girl..she has been straying quite far from mum and really enjoying the world she calls home.

Now her dad..well let me introduce Buster..

Now mum (who is tiny so I have called her titch) appears to be trying her hardest this afternoon to ward of Busters advances…yes love is in the air folks…

In this picture you can see Buster grab her tail.. he had been sniffing her in a most invasive way.. and she kept moving away, then he would grab her tail…
Male roos are not aggressive when they are courting their girls and believe me SHE calls the shots.. and so after watching him as the family went around the front of the property I decided that since he was so desperate to bust a move on her that I named him Buster.

He is a seemingly young male..and judging by his huge tail in proportion to the rest of him..he may end up a Boomer or Alpha roo.. he is, I think going to be a big big boy when fully grown.

As you can see her chest appears wet..it was 38C today and she may have been rubbing her chest with her arms..roos cool down by licking their arms and the blood vessels close to the skin act as cooling.Eastern Greys have insulating fur all year around as opposed to red roos who tend to live in much much hotter climates.

This little family was so sweet to watch…mum trying to eat..dad trying to get romantic with mum and bub just wanting to take the world in..

And Tippy will be safe knowing her dad is always there…look at how she looks at him..such a powerful creature and she has no fear..

  2. It is wonderful to watch them, they are like a part of the furmily :o) Buster has giant muscles, no wonder that they can knock you out… and well probably roolove is different from puppy love… I wouldn’t grab the tail of a girl, that could end dangerous :o)

    • Haahah I wouldn’t either Easy 🙂 he is very impressive and yet still very young..so I look forward to seeing how big he does get! indeed they are very much your family too Easy..an who knows maybe more little ones…if Buster gets to bust a move 😉 xxx

    • Aww thanks sweets 🙂 I am indeed super lucky and trust me I never take it for granted..i was preparing dinner last night when I saw them…everything gets put on hold…I never tire of the dynamics amongst them and their beauty 🙂 hugs paw past and nose butts all round 🙂 Bev xxx

    • Layla thankyou..they are super safe in our neighbourhood..the whole are very appreciative they call our area home 🙂 .I will work on the terms and info too as they really are very amazing creatures 🙂 Boomer being the name for a large Alpha male who has the sole rights to the girls in his mob (family group) loves Bev xx

  18. These pictures and the info was invaluable to us. I called the whole family in to have a look at the pictures and read about them. Dad said the pictures were awesome and you did a great job as they were so crisp and clear. Mom was overcome by the info and Kali said they were odd looking kitties….she’s weird.

    • Shoko they are weird looking I imagine to most people hahaha 🙂 especially discerning kitties 🙂 tell dad thankyou I was having some setting issues as I heade out to catch them so I got some good shots..some haahhaa and yes they are really interesting…so many facts about them they are truly a unique Macropod 🙂 loves Fozziemum xxx

  23. Lovely to see little Tippy doing well. Funny I call my young male wallaby Bunter! They make a deep coughing sound when females are deterring male advances. I have little joeys out of the pouch now and happy to see the block used as a nursery. Lots of green grass back after the recent rains.

    • Sounds wonderful 🙂 yes the roos here cough too..usually to signal that something is up or if a male wants to show he is submissive to a bigger male..in fact if I am out and about and come across roos unexpectedly I cough…just to let them know I am no threat..aren’t we lucky 🙂 here though no green anything!

    • Hahaahah M.K. we were laughing too..i was making dinner and stopped to go take pics..hubby was singing romantic songs..bless Buster he really was desperate..she just kept moving..around and around they went..him sniffing then grabbing her tail.i was waiting for her to slap his face hahahhaha 🙂

  31. It is hard to imagine at my place that these creatures are real living beings, at a distance of 100 meters from your camera away… The fluffy fur of Tippy is so cute!!!!

  33. I let go of 5 blogs but I have 8 offsite from here & I adore the people & their 4 leggeds…so I am still around 42 blogs & it is difficult to get to everyone 😦
    LOL about Buster…it is Spring going into Summer there…love is in the air!!! HAHAHA!
