Prepare to Squee..

Please meet one of the newest little darlings to leave his mums pouch…today i was in the kitchen cheering myself up by making a loaf of Sourdough Bread..as I was kneading the beast into submission I looked up and out the kitchen window to see the Ketchup Mob was hanging out behind the barn just up the driveway..i missed the chance to take pictures earlier as I had forgotten to put my SD card in my camera…yep sharp as a bowling ball me..anyway I thought they had gone as they hopped across the driveway as I cussed myself for missing the shots..
So I had taken to beating up this dough instead when I saw them..clearly they had crossed the driveway and then gone up the embankment and done a loop .this is about 30 metres or 100 feet away..
So I had the camera ready and crept outside to the end of the verandah where the kitchen end is..such gorgeous creatures..nibbling the sweet grass..having a scratch..i missed a great close up of a boxing match because a big gum tree blocked my view and then they took it behind the barn….dang…anyway was getting great shots of the Boomer..a healthy looking big boy who stared me down but I crouched down and stopped looking directly at him…as he slowly went back to nibbling the grass I slowly stood up…he stopped and was watching as were the rest of his mob but they felt no threat from me so it was back to grazing….so the big guy and his smaller female companion had me enthralled….and then SQUEEE out from behind the barn hopped this little guy..he was ALL legs and ALL tail ..his proportions look so funny and I imagine he is not long out of the pouch at all as he was more interested in the scenery than the grass! he was so tiny and when I zoomed in I noticed he has a small nick out of one of his ears…so..may I introduce to you all…..Nicky…and guess what..apart from me and hubby you are all the only people in the whole world who have ever seen him!! how special is that…

  2. Nicky is the coutest roo I ever saw! It looks like he has to grow into his fur first :o) That’s a picture for National Geographics, it’s exclusive and unique… and I was one of the red carpet visitors who saw it first :o)

    • You sure were Easy! they live close to our house so safe to say he is a seldom seen boy 🙂 and yes he needs to grow into everything!! his feet in particular hahaah I am surprised he does not trip..i will work on the group pic and you will see how little he is compared to Dad and mum and the rest of the Ketchup mob 🙂

    • Fred they can jump pretty high..this little guy would not clear a standard fence yet and so they go under or through the fencing…for this reason we have breaks in the fencing so they can come and go..sometimes these little ones get caught on fencing when trying to jump in a panic if they cannot go through or under and it’s awful as they do real damage to themselves..we have safe areas for them all..did you know when a roo is stressed such as a mum whose joey has not gotten through a fence to be with her ..well they rub there paws together..so I always know if my presence might be stressful if I was to see that behaviour..so far we have had a very stress free existence together..and yes YOU could jump higher than this little one but not his mum or dad 😉 they would beat you by a lonnng jump hugs Fozziemum xx

  6. OMGoddess! Nicky is soooo cute. You would expect him to trip over those huge feet! Bev a couple of a.m.s ago I went out onto my deck and saw a beautiful glossy black golden head and wings, Regent Bower bird bathing in the bird bath. Only the 2nd. time in 7 years that I have seen 1 here.
I would love it to breed around here. Have a good day.

  8. OMD…mom just melted into a puddle of goop. She tends to do that whenever she sees or comes into contact with anything remotely cute or fuzzy.
We can’t believe you get to have Kangaroos roaming your back yard – that is too pawsome for barks!
