We have two new Wedge tail eagles at home.. most likely the ones who dropped the red-bellied black that Cleo bought home…they always stop me in my tracks..i adore them so large so fluid so powerful and almost killed off back in the day here with a huge bounty on their heads as mistaken stock killers….
When I see them I try and get pics….it usually is not really successful…my long lens not long enough and the sky is a real pain as a background.. these pics I took were when one came close enough to the trees to try and get a good shot..not very clear but bigify and you get the idea….I also have this old song from an Aussie Legend Russel Morris always in my head as i watch them ..enjoy the clip is not my pics but an Aussie compilation…
the wing span is incredible. Do you know what the wing span is?

About 2-3 metres and they stand between 81cm and 101cm 🙂

Eagles of all types are so majestic – I love the way they use the air currents to soar, dip, capture……they’re just beautiful. I hope next time one gets a snake they dump it OUTSIDE your fence instead of in!

That is great that you get to see such wonderful creatures. I am somewhat fascinated by raptors. We have a few bald eagles around here and a lot of ospreys. I once sat on my patio every day for a month or more with my camera and waited to get a photo of an osprey pulling a fish out of the water. One day my friend called and while I was distracted with the phone call I heard a splash and turned to see an osprey pulling a fish from the water just 30 feet in front of me. It’s hard to get good pictures. 🙂

Dang!! i know i sit on the verandah when they start getting out and about…i love them…..i see a huge shadow and then i look up..usually the extra blue sky makes it so hard…we have had them fly through the bush..i don’t know how thye don’t hit a gumtree!! but then its so fast i miss it…so Eagle watch for me now….i know they are busy!! 🙂

Eagles are wonderful, I love it to watch any birds of prey. It feels like the whole world is silence when they sail through the air. Easy’s breeder hunt with birds of prey, it’s a pleasure to watch them ( when they train, not the “real” hunt).

They are magnifique!!! the world does fall silent and the air becomes so electric….they take my spirit with them on theor flights…just wish they didnlt drop the dead snakes for the cats to collect….ewwwww. 🙂
